Mark 4 : 35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when
they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And
other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a
great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already
filling. 38 But He
was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to
Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” NKJV.
At the
beginning of the text we see an invitation from Jesus to his disciples “Let us
cross over to the other side “and the text also says “ they took Him along in
the boat as He was” moments after obeying the instruction we see a windstorm
arising…
I am
breaking this down so we can see that at times we embark on a journey with the
Lord and face challenges, it may be a business venture, a ministry,a career
path , a dream/vision as instructed by
the Lord.When we embark on this journey there is never a moment where we are
alone, he continues to walk with us but its normal to expect no challenges to arise, just
because God spoke it we expect it to go smoothly without hick up and just like
the disciples when we face troubled waters we start asking the Lord questions
and thinking he doesn’t care about us.
The
storm may be a financial loss or even health issues that try to come against
you fulfilling the word/ instruction God spoke over you, when this happens we
start wondering if we heard God correctly that God never sent us. Remember an
instruction from God is not without challenges, just as He was with the
disciples so he is with you.
In the
book of Mark 4 : 13-20 AMPC we see the parable of the sower being explained but
what stands out for me is verse 17 which goes on to say that tribulation and
persecution arises for the words sake, meaning the word of God in us will be
tested.
17 And they have no real root in themselves, and so
they endure for a little while; then when trouble or persecution arises on
account of the Word, they immediately are offended (become displeased,
indignant, resentful) and they
stumble and fall
away.
Let us not be these kind
of children before the Lord, let us not grow weary when we face these
challenges instead let us hold on to the word in James 1: 2- 4 NKJV
2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various
trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith
produces [a]patience. 4 But
let patience have its perfect
work, that you may be [b]perfect
and complete, lacking nothing.
By so
doing the word of God will grow roots in us so deep that nothing can uproot it
or stop its fulfillment. God remains with us through this journey of life and
he will never leave us nor forsake us.
